Summer Solstice & International Yoga Day
A 3-Hour Journey of Sun, Practice, Yin & Reflection
Service Description
Join Rajbir & Anisha for a special Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day celebration, honouring the light of the sun at the turning point of the year. The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year, a powerful moment to pause, practise, reflect, and reconnect with the light within. In Vedic philosophy, Surya, the sun, is symbolic of the Self, vitality, and illumination. This event weaves together yogic philosophy, asana, mantra, breathwork, and yin yoga to honour the Summer Solstice, deepen your relationship with yoga, and reconnect with your inner light. Rajbir will open with a reflection on International Yoga Day and the symbolism of Surya, before guiding 24 rounds of Sun Salutation as an act of reverence to the sun honouring the 12 months of the year and the 24 hours shaped by its presence. This energising, breath-led practice will cultivate heat, focus, devotion, and gratitude, before softening into Surya mantra chanting to steady the mind and turn the practice inward. In the second half, Anisha will guide you through a reflective Yin Yoga practise inspired by the energy of the Summer Solstice. Associated with the Fire element and Heart organ in Traditional Chinese Medicine, this season symbolises vitality, passion, and inner strength. Through nourishing Yin postures, mindfulness meditation, and pranayama (breathwork), the practice will encourage the flow of Qi (life-force energy), inviting balance, openness, and quiet introspection. All levels are welcome. Variations will be offered throughout. What to Expect: - Introduction to International Yoga Day and Summer Solstice - Vedic philosophy around Surya as Self, vitality, and illumination - 24 rounds of Sun Salutations - Surya (Sun) mantra chanting - Fire element Yin Yoga practise - Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy - Pranayama/Breathwork - Networking and tea
